If you head out to Eagle Lake, there are perch being caught in the shallow waters along with a few walleye. Norway Lake has had some great action for sunfish, crappies and walleyes. Fishing has been slow since the snowstorm last week. Fishermen are starting to venture out on area lakes. Diamond Lake has the best access with a path created down the middle. Fishing is looking to pick up in the next week due to more traffic on area lakes. If you venture out be careful and stay on the paths as we have about 22" of snow. Good luck fishing.

Snow, snow, and more snow is what the Willmar Lakes Area has experienced in the past couple days. The fishermen have stayed off of the area lakes due to the 6 to 12 inches of snow accumulated on the ice from our recent storm. Access to area lakes should be better on Saturday and Sunday as paths will be made on the area lakes. The lakes to try are Eagle Lake and Norway Lake which usually have paths cleared the soonest. Good Luck Fishing.
2-4-10
The ice depth is currently 18"-25" on most of our area lakes. Eagle Lake, Norway Lake, and Green Lake have the best paths cleared on the ice. The recent weather has put a damper on the fishing here in the Willmar Lakes Area. Due to the rain and blizzard like conditions in recent days there hasn't been many people out on the lakes. The lakes are safe to venture on, your only problem will be there is limited access onto the lakes because of blowing snow. The weekend is looking good for fishing on area lakes and there should be clear paths by Friday. Some good lakes to try out are Green Lake, Willmar Lake, Foot Lake, Lake Andrew, and Big Kandi.
1-19-10
The Willmar Lakes Area has been producing some good fish this week. The ice depth is currently 18"-24" on most of our area lakes and is in good condition to drive on. Perch and Walleye are being caught on Eagle Lake. Green Lake has been producing some good crappies and walleyes along with Lake Florida and Norway Lake. If you venture onto Foot Lake crappies are being caught near all the ice houses and if you fish away from the group you may get lucky and catch a big walleye. Good Luck Fishing.
12-29-09
The big snow storm on the 24th slowed down some of the activity on the area lakes. Currently there is 6 to 12 inches of ice below the foot of snow. The fish are biting on almost every lake in the county but if you venture out, precautions need to be taken due to all the snow and slush on the ice.
12-15-09
First ice of season is here! The ice on the lakes in the Willmar Lakes Area is anywhere from 5 to 9 inches thick, which is good for walking and four-wheelers. Walleyes are the fish of choice. To catch some great size walleyes head over to Green Lake, Nest Lake, Lake Florida, or Lake Andrew. Brad, from Brad’s 71 Bait and Sports Shop, said "You can't go wrong on any of our area lakes, the fish are biting, and the ice is in good condition."
